25th Anniversary 6-A-Side Tournament

The 25th anniversary 6-A-Side tournament is now complete, but SCORE would like to thank the many volunteers that stepped up to help make it successful.  A list of these volunteers is on our Tournaments page. The 6-A-Side is SCORE's biggest fundraiser of the year and without all of their help, it would not be possible.  SCORE also wishes to thank the city of Renton for their support - the 6-A-Side has been part of Renton River Days since its inception.

Game results and finalists are now available on the Tournaments page.  A big thank you to all of the teams joining us to celebrate our 25th anniversary!  We hope to see you back here for the 26th 6-A-Side tentatively scheduled for Saturday, July 23rd, 2011.

Fall Recreational Soccer - Registration Closes August 16th
Time is running out to register for fall MOD soccer - registration closes on August 16th.  SCORE expects another tremendous turnout for the 2010 fall season, so register right away to guarantee your son or daughter a spot on a team.  SCORE will make every effort to place returning players on the same team as they were on last year if so desired, but this may be difficult for late registrants.  All coaches should contact their returning players and encourage them to register as soon as possible.

The fall MOD soccer season commences with an association-wide jamboree on Saturday, September 11th at McKnight Middle School.  The 10-game regular season starts Saturday, September 18th and ends on November 20th.
August Club Meeting - Monday, August 9th at Jack's
The next club meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 9th at 7:30 PM at Jack's Bar & Grill.  Agenda items include preparations for fall season and recruitment of volunteers.  Coaches are encouraged to attend or send a representative for their team.  Club meetings are held at Jack's Bar & Grill located at 3901 NE 4th, suite 105 in Renton, and consist of a general membership meeting followed by a board meeting.  All club members are welcome to attend!

Eagles 94 Boys - Far West Regional Wrap-up
The Eagles 94 boys were one of only two teams in GRJSA invited to participate in the Far West President's Cup regional tournament in Medford, Oregon held on June 16-20.  As a WSYSA Challenge Cup finalist, the Eagles 94 boys accepted a wild card berth to Regionals, where tournament winners advance to Nationals in Tennessee.  The Eagles boys had a great tournament, winning games against Fusion FC (Utah) and group winner Hemet Juventus (Cal South wild card), and narrowly missed advancing to the championship match.

This was a great honor for the Eagles 94 boys to represent the state of Washington and SCORE at the regional finals.  Of the 18 Washington teams participating in Regionals at all age levels, only one team had a better record than our Eagles.  SCORE congratulates them on an epic 2009-10 campaign and continued success on the pitch in 2010-11!

 Select Coach and Player Registration
SCORE tryouts are now complete and registration for players selected to play on one of SCORE's competitive teams is now open.  The player registration fee for the 2010-11 season is still only $150, the same as for the 2009-10 season.  All players should be registered prior to the start of team practices.  Coaches are required to register as well and if necessary, renew their RMA.  The son or daughter of a coach or board member can have their registration fee waived.

SCORE Soccer Players in Nairobi!
One of our recent SCORE alumni, Hayden Carlson, decided over a year ago to help kids in Africa with his Eagle Scout project by collecting soccer uniforms and equipment for donation to the Mcedo School in Nairobi, Kenya.  The idea was to help establish a soccer program in the midst of the slums of Nairobi to bring joy and hope to the children attending the school.  Hayden and his father, SCORE BU15 SST coach Jerry Carlson, starting by collecting donations from friends and SCORE members, which included the green jerseys that SCORE used before switching to Patriot navy blue jerseys (these green jerseys bring back fond memories for many of us).
After gathering and packing up all of the donations, traveling halfway around the world, avoiding Somali Pirates, having to bribe custom officials to get the container delivered, the jerseys and equipment finally arrived!  And as a result, SCORE now has teams in Africa!  Thanks again from the Carlson family and SCORE to all who donated and helped make this project a worldwide success!!
