SCORE State Cup Play
SCORE has one team still alive in 2010 State Cup tournament play. The GRFC Eagles 94 boys advanced to the Challenge Cup semifinals by beating Washington Premier FC 94 White 3-0 in a quarterfinal match in Tacoma. Samuel Bunnell turned in a hat trick, mostly through sheer hustle and heads-up play, to lead the Eagles boys to victory. And the Eagles defenders, led by Kyle Bunnell and Max Hill, turned in perhaps their best game of the tournament, with keeper Freddy Jeronimo backing them up by being in the right place at the right time throughout the whole game. The Eagles boys play the HPFC Heat 94 Red team next Saturday at Starfire with the winner advancing to the finals the following day - come out and cheer on the Eagles 94 boys to victory!

Eagles 94 Boys Win Starfire Candy Cane Challenge!
| The Eagles 94 boys added another tournament championship to their trophy case by winning the Candy Cane Challenge indoor tournament at Starfire on Thursday, December 17th. The Eagles boys had the deck stacked against them by playing "up" in a combined U15-U16 age group and entering two teams into the competition. But once again the boys prevailed by sending BOTH of their teams to the tournament championship, where the Red Devils beat the Black Eagles 4-2 to cap a fun-filled and successful evening at Starfire. |

SCORE Soccer Players in Nairobi!
One of our recent SCORE alumni, Hayden Carlson, decided over a year ago to help kids in Africa with his Eagle Scout project by collecting soccer uniforms and equipment for donation to the Mcedo School in Nairobi, Kenya. The idea was to help establish a soccer program in the midst of the slums of Nairobi to bring joy and hope to the children attending the school. Hayden and his father, SCORE BU15 SST coach Jerry Carlson, starting by collecting donations from friends and SCORE members, which included the green jerseys that SCORE used before switching to Patriot navy blue jerseys (these green jerseys bring back fond memories for many of us).
 |
 |
After gathering and packing up all of the donations, traveling halfway around the world, avoiding Somali Pirates, having to bribe custom officials to get the container delivered, the jerseys and equipment finally arrived! And as a result, SCORE now has teams in Africa! Thanks again from the Carlson family and SCORE to all who donated and helped make this project a worldwide success!!
